In my position, I’m tasked everyday with looking into the future to see what’s coming. That has been my job for over 40 years. Have I seen a few things? Absolutely. Not election outcomes or even Super Bowl winners. But, I can definitely see lower material prices when they are coming and they are.

In fact, they’re here.

The current world economy, affected by the lack of business in China, a struggling Europe, the Middle East in turmoil, and the rising threat of terrorism, is decreasing the demand on steel scrap materials and, of course, directly impacting the price of oil.

Due to these factors, material prices are decreasing. For you, that means lower pricing and the absolute best time for your clients to buy their steel building.

Seeing this trend coming, Star has been giving builders the advantage of special pricing for months as the material demand fluctuated. Now, we are at the lowest those prices are predicted to go and our new builder pricing system (SBS 10.5F) due out Monday 3/30/2015 reflects those savings.

As Bryan Arlington predicted in November, now really is the best time to place your building orders. Also, if you have a very competitive situation, I always encourage you to contact your District Manager for special pricing, as well.

You don’t want to let this small window pass you by. I see less advantageous changes coming later this year. But still no lotto numbers.
