MISSING PART NUMBERS CAUSING CONFUSION? HERE’S WHY AND HOW TO FIX IT.

MISSING PART NUMBERS CAUSING CONFUSION? HERE’S WHY AND HOW TO FIX IT.

Usually, each individual part is labeled with a part number on a sticker or marked in black ink.  However, often when small parts are bundled, the bundle itself is marked with the part number instead of each individual part.  Once you open the bundle, you should keep the tag with the bundle, or keep an individual part marked with a sticker or ink for future identification as they are installed.

Here’s why it’s important.

Not only does a missing part number create confusion and loss of direction for the erection crew, it cannot be easily identified if you call for assistance. Without a part number, we have no way of knowing exactly what it is.

Utilizing today’s technology, you can save time. Cell phone photos are a great way to communicate with Star’s field service department when you encounter a problem on the job.  A photo of the labeled part can be quickly forwarded, saving both you and Star time and energy, and keeping your project moving forward.

There’s my quick fix! Do you have questions? Comments? Want more details? Send me a comment below. And stay tuned for more quick fixes to keep your job on schedule, on budget, and on the move.
