Oklahoma City, OK - Star Building Systems, an Oklahoma City based manufacturer of custom metal buildings, recently announced the appointment of Bart Starr, former NFL quarterback, as company spokesman. The announcement was made at Star's 2008 National Sales Meeting held February 24-26, in Marco Island, Florida, where Star Building Systems hosted their customers, Star Builders from around the country, for a three day conference. The conference included speakers, seminars, awards and entertainment. Bart Starr was a featured speaker at the meeting. Starr's presentation, "Being the Best You Can Be", emphasized the importance of setting and achieving goals, teamwork, and striving toward excellence. Following his presentation, Phil Symes, Star Building Systems' Vice President of Sales and Marketing, revealed the companies' 2008 marketing plan that will include direct response TV, print and internet advertising featuring Mr. Starr. Shooting for the TV spot has been completed in the Orlando, Florida area. Planning is underway and the campaign is scheduled to kick off in late April. As the National Football League was coming of age toward the end of the 1960s, Bart Starr emerged as one of the game's first truly iconic performers, a quarterback and leader always at his best when the stakes were highest. The MVP of the first two Super Bowls in 1967 and '68, Starr continues to exemplify what it means to be a valuable and consummate professional in life. For 16 years Starr defined the image of the Green Bay Packers, a team celebrated for its discipline and consistent domination of opponents in big games. Many great NFL quarterbacks have competed in the footsteps of Starr but none have surpassed his stature. Starr achieved the most NFL championships (five) of any quarterback in history, and the highest rating among playoff quarterbacks. The famed 1966 "Ice Bowl" victory by Green Bay against Dallas in severe winter conditions was the game in which Starr literally re-defined fortitude. That same quality continued to be the Starr trademark, first as the Packers head coach, and in the years that have ensued off the field, where he has demonstrated unwavering perseverance and superiority as a successful businessman, community leader, and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Star Building Systems, an NCI Company, is a leading supplier of custom designed metal buildings. Star was formed in 1927 to meet the needs of oil drillers in the historic Oklahoma City oil boom. The product at the time was small metal buildings that were used for "tool boxes" and "dog houses" (small portable buildings located near oil field derricks to shelter men and equipment). In the late 1930s, Star built aviation hangars for the Midwest. During World War II, Star met the needs of the military for warehouses and aircraft hangars. In the 1950s, Star provided grain storage and sectional steel buildings for utilitarian warehouses and storage buildings. The pre-engineered metal building industry was enhanced in the early 1960s with the advent of computer designed rigid frames, high yield steel and factory applied, baked on color coating on steel panels. Today, Star serves the non-residential, commercial, industrial, institutional, recreational, agricultural and retrofit markets both nationally and internationally. Star's state-of-the-art plants are located in Lockeford, California; Monticello, Iowa; and Elizabethton, Tennessee, and produce a completely integrated product line. Each component is inspected throughout the manufacturing process to assure the highest standards of quality are maintained. Star markets its products through over 1000 design/build contractors throughout the world. Click Here to view Bart Starr's T.V. Spot
