David Alexander - President
David Alexander came to Star as a programmer analyst in 1989, where he worked primarily on the Star Builder System software. He was later promoted to Director of Builder Systems, and then in 2002 accepted the position of Director of Customer Service. In 2011, David was promoted to President. He is a graduate of the University of Central Oklahoma with Bachelor of Science degrees in Computer Science and Management. When away from the office, David enjoys playing golf and spending time with his wife, Sherry, and three sons, Drew, Caleb and Jacob. The boys keep David and Sherry very busy with sports and activities.

Joe Edge - President of International Services - NCI
Joe Edge began his career in 1968 as a helper on the panel line in Star’s now defunct Cedartown, GA plant. He also served as estimator, drafter, and project manager for a Star Builder in the early 70s. Joe began his Star sales career as District Manager, first in Louisiana and Mississippi and later the Georgia/Tennessee district. He was promoted to Northern Regional Manager in 1985 and relocated his family to Missouri. In 1989, the Edges packed up once again, this time moving to Oklahoma City and Joe’s new responsibility as Director of Customer Service. Later he became Director of International Sales and promoted Star products in Asia and Europe for several years. In 1994, he was promoted to Vice President of Sales, and in 2003 became the tenth President of Star Building Systems. In 2011, Joe accepted the position of President of International Services.
Joe has a Bachelor of Arts degree from West Georgia College. Hobbies include fishing, reading, bike riding, scuba diving and traveling for business or pleasure. When not working, Joe can often be found in his bass boat which is always ready to go in his backyard slip. He is very proud of his three grown children; Julie, Joel and Meredith who now live in Georgia and Oklahoma. Julie and her husband, Shane Redden, have three children of their own, making Joe a proud Granddad. |
Gene Bell, P.E. - Vice President of Operations
Gene Bell, P.E. joined Star in 1973 as a Design Engineer I after earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Oklahoma. Gene has worked as Design Engineer, Sales Engineer, Chief Engineer, Chief Sales Engineer, Manager of Estimating, Team Manager, Director of Customer Service, Director of Estimating, Pricing Administration and Plant Scheduling and is now the Vice President of Operations. When not working, Gene enjoys golf, running, kayaking, adventure racing, mountain biking and spending as much time as possible with his nine grandchildren.

Jack Eskew - Vice President, Human Resources - RCC
Jack Eskew started in 1977 as a Purchasing Agent for Star. Jack has held the positions of Builder Service Representative and Office Services Manager during his time at Star. He moved to Human Resources in 1981 as Personnel Supervisor and was promoted to his current position in 1992. Jack has responsibilities for other divisions of Robertson Ceco Corporation, in addition to his primary responsibility for Human Resources at Star. Jack received his MBA from Oklahoma City University. |

Phil Symes - Vice President of Sales & Marketing
Phil Symes is a metal building industry veteran with more than 30 years of experience. He came to Star in 1989 as the Central Regional Sales Manager and was appointed Director of Sales in 2003. Phil’s educational background centers on the University of Wisconsin with studies in economics. He remains a dedicated Badger fan. Phil and his wife, Penny, have two grown children. His interests and hobbies are varied. Phil spends time investing in the securities market and enjoys golf, fishing, and boating. He and Penny are bikers . . . as in motorcycle. |
Mark Fritz –Vice President of Manufacturing – NCI
Mark Fritz began his career in 1979 on the plant floor of a metal building manufacturer. He moved to the drafting department the following year as a detailer and was promoted to Detailing Supervisor before moving to Manufacturing Supervisor where he worked in all areas of the manufacturing plant. From 1988 until 1989, he was Purchasing Manager and Materials Manager. In 1990, he was promoted to Plant Manager and held that position until he joined Star in 2001 as Plant Manager at the Elizabethton, Tennessee facility. In 2008, he accepted the position of General Manager of Manufacturing and in 2011 was promoted to Vice President of Manufacturing. Outside the office, Mark enjoys golf, shooting, restoring his muscle car and is an avid Ohio State football fan. He and his wife, Bonnie, are the proud parents of two grown children, Jason and Kylie.

Ron Welch, C.P.A. - Controller
Ron Welch joined Star in 2008 as Controller. He is a graduate of the University Center – Tulsa with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. Prior to joining Star, Ron spent nine years in Assurance and Advisory Services with Ernst & Young, LLP and ten years as Controller/Chief Financial Officer for a large regional distribution concern with over 130 retail outlets throughout the Midwest. Ron has served as Trustee over large estates and was appointed Debtor-in-Possession by the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Oklahoma. When not at work, he enjoys any outdoor activity and spends most of his time involved in sports and activities with his two boys. |

Gabe Savely – Director of Customer Service
Gabe Savely first joined Star in 1999 as a programmer analyst after receiving his degree in Computer Science & Management. In 2001, Gabe was promoted to Manager of SBS and was instrumental in the continual development of SBS as the industry leading software it is today. In 2004, Gabe accepted the challenge of the Corporate IT Director position supporting software development for all of the RCC & NCI buildings divisions. Gabe became Director of Product Management-Customer Solutions in 2008 as part of the IT Technical Services group. In 2011, Gabe re-joined Star Building Systems as the Director of Customer Service. While not at work, he enjoys spending time with his wife, Rebecca, and their two daughters, Sarah and Shelby. There isn’t a sport his daughters have played that Gabe hasn’t been involved in as a Coach. |
Bryan Arlington, P.E. – Director of Estimating
Bryan Arlington, P.E., started at Star in 1996 as a Design Engineer. In 1999, he moved to the Estimating Department as a Sales Engineer. After achieving Senior Sales Engineer, he was promoted to Chief Sales Engineer and then Manager of Estimating. Bryan has a degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Oklahoma and is a registered professional engineer in multiple states. When not at work he enjoys spending time with his wife, Shalmarie and his two children, Jessica and Jacob.

Dustin Cole, P.E., S.E. - Director of Engineering
Dustin Cole, P.E., S.E. began his career at Star in 1985 as an engineering intern while attending the University of Oklahoma. He received his Bachelor’s of Civil Engineering degree in 1986 and after a brief tour as a highway engineer in Texas returned to Star in 1988. He has worked as a Design Engineer, Senior Design Engineer, Regional Team Manager, Engineering Manager and is currently Director of Engineering. He is licensed as a Professional Engineer in all 50 states and 4 provinces in Canada. Dustin and his wife enjoy birding, hiking and working in their yard.

Dan De Kalb, P.E. – Director Product Development – NCI
Dan De Kalb, P.E., came to Star in 1987 as an estimating intern while studying engineering at the University of Oklahoma. Upon graduation in 1988, he officially joined Star as a Design Engineer. Since that time, Dan has held numerous positions including Chief Sales Engineer, District Sales Manager, Manager of Engineering, and Director of Quality. Since 2008, he has filled the position of Director of Product Development responsible for product and detailing standards. Dan has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, a Masters in Business Administration, and holds a professional engineering license in 19 states. When not at work, he spends his remaining time with his wife of more than 20 years and their two children. |

Bill Hood - Director of Drafting
Bill Hood began his career with Star in 1972 as a Drafter. He progressed through the ranks to Drafting Manager, and in 1994 was promoted to Director of Drafting Services. Bill and his wife, Dot, have a son and daughter, 5 grandkids and a dog name Pete. In his spare time Bill enjoys golfing, watching the grandkids play sports, sightseeing and taking road trips in his jeep. |

Dave Rutherford - Director of Business Affairs
Dave Rutherford came to Star in 1973, working second shift in the plant while attending Rose State University on a wrestling scholarship. Over the last 37 years Dave has held many positions at Star; Shear Operator, Customer Service Rep, Quality Superintendent, Director of Quality, Safety and Environmental (all RCC plants) and Plant Manager at Lockeford, CA. Dave’s current position as Director of Business Affairs has him dealing with Star’s legal affairs among other duties as assigned by Joe Edge, including Sales Manager for the Oklahoma District. Dave has been active with the MBMA and is former Chairman of the Manufacturing Committee as well as a member of the Construction Committee. He is a 20-year member of the American Welding Society and Certified as a CWI. Dave and his wife, Peggy, own an acreage in Moore, OK. They have three grown children, 3 granddaughters and one grandson, with many photos in Dave’s office to show everyone the most beautiful grandchildren in the world, in Dave’s estimation. Dave is an avid “bird” hunter with his field trial English Pointers and also enjoys a good round of golf when time allows. |
